To assist individuals who have a substance abuse problem, the state of Ohio has developed licenses for Chemical Dependency Counselors. These licenses can be earned by individuals with an “Associate's degree in a behavioral science or Nursing OR a Bachelor's in any field from an accredited school or university” with 180 hours in chemical dependency specific education, as well as chemical dependency-related work experience and counseling hours and successful completion of the ADC examination.

Capital University’s Chemical Dependency Minor provides 180 hours of education that can be used toward a Chemical Dependency License with the State of Ohio. The Chemical Dependency License will allow you to do counseling with people experiencing addiction. If you are interested in pursuing the license, then you need to meet all requirements identified by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.
